Que: Can you provide an overview of Giraffa and its mission in the solar O&M and project industry in India?

Ans: Brand Giraffa was launched in India in the year 2007 and has been working closely with Solar PV organizations. As the market matured we started partnering with Independent Service Providers by offering exclusive solutions for Solar PV module cleaning. Giraffa's product range starts from Water-Fed Pole & Brush, Flash Energy Solvents, Glass Protect Coating & Robots, etc. These products are 100% imported with the finest raw materials used by different suppliers across the globe. We have many O&M partners across India viz., Mahindra Teqo, Inspire Clean Energy, Renew Power, RenewSys, Siemens Gamesa, and many others who use/recommend our products.

Que: What sets Giraffa apart from other cleaning solution providers in the market?

Ans: The products sold by Giraffa are 100% high quality and these products have been field-tested and approved by various developers, IPPs & O&M companies in India. In addition to this, we have a letter from Trina Solar stating our Flash Energy Solvent has no impact on their module performance or warranty. In addition to this, we got our Solvent TÜV certified to ensure our solvents remain the best and protect solar PV modules from any damage. Our goal is not to just sell our products but to provide complete solutions when it comes to maintaining your solar PV modules.

Que: How does Giraffa ensure both the quality and safety of its cleaning tools, including electrical safety, while also maintaining environmental sustainability and responsibility in its products and operations?

Ans: When it comes to safety, we ensure that every pole and cleaning brush is tested before dispatch. The selection of materials also plays a major role in ensuring the longevity of the poles and bristles. For example, a normal market pole and brush last for about 12 months, but Giraffa poles and brushes last for a minimum of 24 months. This reduces the need for frequent replacement of poles and brushes. Our Flash Energy solvent is pH neutral ensuring that they don’t cause any adverse effect on team members using them, the modules, or the environment. We take extreme care in selecting raw materials to ensure that our solutions are safe and environmentally friendly.

Que: Can you walk us through the range of products offered by Giraffa and their respective applications in solar module cleaning and other environments?

Ans: Giraffa's product range starts from Water-Fed Pole & Brush, Flash Energy Solvents, Glass Protect Coating & Robots, etc. Water-fed Pole & System: With carbon fiber poles offering high stability & lower weight, our telescopic Water-Fed Pole System was the first to be introduced in India for Solar PV module cleaning activity. With our solution, the water consumption per module is ~ 200 ml and does not require a wiper to remove the water. These bristles are of high quality and scratch resistant with Teflon coating and ensure smooth removal of the dust from solar modules.Flash Energy Solvent: A patented solvent with TÜV certification ensures stubborn dust depositions on solar PV modules are cleaned at ease. The solvent is a mixture of organic and inorganic chemicals that ensures the removal of any type of hard deposition on solar PV modules without damaging the AR coating & the aluminium frame. The solvent can be mixed with water at a 1:10 ratio for general cleaning and users have reported a 10-30% increase in energy yield of the solar PV system.Glass Protect Coating: Hydrophobic nano coating solution when applied on solar PV modules protects the modules from dust adherence to glass and hence increases generation and reduces cleaning cycle requirement. This solution is highly effective when you have a sticky dust environment and customers are looking for weekly cleaning. With the application of this coating, the cleaning frequency can be reduced by 10-20%.

Que: What is Giraffa’s approach to innovation and product development to meet evolving industry needs and standards?

Ans: At Giraffa, our goal is to understand customer needs and launch new product lines to meet the demand. With growing rooftop installation and difficulty in finding reasonable quality water for module cleaning, we will be shortly launching inline water software which can be attached to the existing module cleaning plumbing line. Flo-Soft will ensure soft water is made available for cleaning and reduces the salt mark deposition on glass water cleaning. In the same way, we are working on a robotic cleaning solution that helps clean large rooftop projects at a faster rate.

Que: What do you envision for the future of Giraffa, and how do you see the company contributing to the advancement of solar O&M and the project industry in India?

Ans: Being a populous and growing economy, our dust levels are rising day by day. To get the best out of the Solar PV installation, we need proper cleaning solutions that can be effective, reduce multiple roof visits, clean and environmentally sustainable. Our aim at Giraffa is to solve this need. We would like to be a single-stop solution provider for any cleaning-related solutions for the solar PV industry ranging from simple water-fed poles to complex chemical solvents which can enhance the energy yield and reduce the cleaning cycle.
