High school students at Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School participated in the wild rice season by making poles and knockers at school and going to Rice Camp at Mud/Goose Wildlife Preserve. At Rice Camp,

High school students at Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig School participated in the wild rice season by making poles and knockers at school and going to Rice Camp at Mud/Goose Wildlife Preserve.

At Rice Camp, students took part in activities including ricing, safety demonstrations, outdoor cooking and fishing. The ricing process will be finished at school and the rice will be given to community elders, a release said.

Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig's Culture Department also hosted children from Leech Lake Head Start for a wild rice processing demonstration, which included parching and winnowing.
